Main Contractor: ICI Plc. Area of Work: Ardeer, Stevenston. Brief Summary of Works: This was a major earthmoving contract, which included bulk screening and crushing to remove 100 year old detonators from the raw feedstock. These explosives were waste from a past manufacturing process at the site. This process produced a reusable fill material, which was then used partly on site for restoration with the remaining material being recycled to a major highway contract in the West of Scotland. The final result was a viable brownfield site ready for development - which may even include a golf course.
